Our trip to Lake Tahoe, Nevada

Wes and I at the Cadillac ranch

We have been on the road for the last four days. Last night we arrived at our destination Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Ian had to stay in the hospital for overnight chemo so Mom, Vivian, and Evan had to stay at home. On our first day we went to Wichita Falls and left the next morning. We got spray paint so that we could spray paint the Cadillacs at the Cadillac ranch. The Cadillac ranch is a field with about ten Cadillacs put in the ground nose first as an art display from 1974. Later that day we went to a chicken fried steak place in Amerillo that had been on man vrs  food .That night we stayed in Albuquerque ,New Mexico. The area we stayed at was much nicer than when we had been there before . Usually when we go on trips we play different games and read. When we play games sometimes we play the animal game. You play by going from seat to seat and try to name animals from A to Z. Wes might start first and he will have a and will say a animal that starts with a then I will go and have b and so on. The next night we stayed in Las Vegas but earlier that day we went to the Hoover Dam when we looked into the water we saw these very large fish that we think were bluegill. We also learned that the nazis had tried to bomb the Hoover Dam and that is why you will see pictures of sunken planes farther up from the Hoover dam. The night we stayed in Las Vegas we stayed at the Trump Hotel ,Mom had price lined it earlier that day. It was the nicest hotel I had ever been in.It was very sophisticated it even had a tv that was part of the mirror. We wanted to go to circus circus but the buses were not going there and it was to far to walk .Afterwards on the next day our last day which we were all excited about turned out to be very frustrating..We did live but it got pretty bad. First about four hours into our drive we where supposed to turn but we missed it because you couldn't tell you were supposed to turn there because it was a dirt road in the dessert and also there was no sign. Well our GPS told us not to turn around but to keep on going and turn onto silver springs road about 20 miles ahead. So we listened to the GPS and about thirty minutes later we turn down silver springs road and it is a dirt road with signs saying road under construction next 20 miles in the middle of the desert !  We all kind of freak out Dad asked if we are scared Wes said a little and I said a little. I know Wes was not really scared because he fell asleep two minutes later. It only got worse because 15 miles later a sign says watch out for possible sink holes then watch out for dust. We finally got back on to a regular interstate. Eventually around six in the afternoon after multiple sharp turns up and down mountains we made it to lush Lake Tahoe ,Nevada.

Riding Lessons !

Displaying IMG_0377.JPG
This summer I went to my grandmothers and had riding lessons at the lagniappeequestriancenter . For about four days from eight in the morning till two in the afternoon I was taught how to ride English and bare back. It was so much fun! On the first day she gave us our horses and I got Frosty, a quarter horse who had been attacked by dogs when she was a foal and had a big gash on her side from the dogs. Surprisingly, she was not scared of dogs in the least. During those four days I learned how to ride bareback how to get to a trot and also learned how to play horse soccer so basically I learned how to ride a horse. I took care of Frosty during those four days which means I groomed her, tacked her, and also washed her. The trainer said I had made good progress since I had not been able at all to ride a horse to then being able to trot which is very scary at first. In the future I plan to take more lessons at the same farm.

Our trip to the Birmingham Zoo!

Ian was feeling good last weekend so we decided to go to Birmingham. Ian is not able to be around other people inside but he can be out side. We have gone there before but it was a couple of years ago so we saw a lot of new things that were not there before. One of the things that we like in the zoo is the lorikeet  area where you can feed the birds and they will fly onto you while they eat it.Mom became a sucker for these birds because she wanted one until she read that they will eat their liquid diet then they can spray their poop up to five feet in the air upside down and it will hit the ceiling of your house. Another thing we did at the zoo other than just looking and feeding the animals is that Wes, Vivian, and I rode a camel. The freaky part of our trip was when we were in the orangutan exhibit, and we were talking about its face we were not even pointing and then it found a potato sack and covered its head. We had a little picnic near the giraffe exhibit but you couldn't even get close to the giraffes unless you payed to just go onto a balcony.

Ian

 Ian writing a note

About three weeks ago after church we were all upstairs and Ian was standing up and Mom noticed this horrible bruise on Ian's arm and then she noticed multiple bruises and these tiny specks of red all over his body. She did not say anything but put all of us to bed but Ian stayed downstairs with mom and dad.The next morning she brought us to the doctor and kept all of us except Ian in the waiting room.Well about a hour we left the doctors office and Mom told us Ian had Leukemia. Ian went to the Baton's Children's Hospital in an ambulance with dad and we followed after. We stayed at the hospital for two weeks. Ian is  so brave and we were all so happy to come home. The nurses and doctors have been amazing but living in a hospital for two weeks is miserable and it is not easy to do. People have been helping us so much and it has been so nice to know people are praying for Ian. Ian has been amazing and we would never have expected for him to be so brave. Ian has been eating well and looks healthier and not as pale as he was at the hospital. Now Ian can easily become sick so we are having to be very clean. Ian won't be able to see anybody except his family until the ten days are up but we will still have to be careful when Ian goes anywhere for the next three years. Ian has chemo on Monday but they told us we should bring overnight bags in case he runs fever and it would be a pleasant surprise to come early.Living in a hospital for two weeks is not easy to do and every day just is so slow it is like one day never seems to end. Either that or it is so fast that you don't even have lunch or dinner and you just have some yogurt around eight at night.
